Lavender Silkied Ameraucana

The Silkied Ameraucana (SiAm) is a rare and fascinating variation of the Ameraucana breed. They are not a cross or hybrid, but a true, purebred Ameraucana that carries an uncommon mutation in the feathering gene. This mutation produces the soft, flowing silkied feathers while preserving all the defining traits that make Ameraucanas so well loved.

Silkied Ameraucanas are standard-sized birds with the same classic Ameraucana features—pea combs, slate legs, muffs and beards, and that friendly, inquisitive personality. They’re known for being sweet, social, and delightfully chatty, making them a wonderful choice for backyard flocks and families. If you already love Ameraucanas, think of the Silkied version as the same great bird… just with a little extra flair.

Like their smooth-feathered counterparts, Silkied Ameraucanas lay beautiful blue to blueish green eggs, adding both charm and color to the egg basket. They are generally steady layers and hardy birds that adapt well to a variety of climates when provided good care.

In our breeding program, we’ve paired our stunning silkied lavender rooster with lavender and lavender cuckoo hens (along with one dominant white hen). This pairing can produce Lavender, Lavender Cuckoo, and Black/White offspring, each carrying the potential for that unique silkied feathering. These birds offer a wonderful blend of visual interest, gentle temperament, and classic Ameraucana utility.

For poultry enthusiasts looking for something truly special—without sacrificing temperament or egg quality—the Silkied Ameraucana is a standout addition to the flock.
