TERMS & CONDITIONS
Thank you for your business. All orders from Seeking Eden Permaculture are subject to the following terms and conditions, which must be accepted before purchasing chicks or hatching eggs. Please review these terms carefully and address any questions prior to ordering. Orders will not be accepted unless you agree to comply with all terms.
ORDERING. Orders may be placed here through the shopping cart function on this website, you can email us your specific needs using the contact form, directly at seekingedenpermaculture@gmail.com. Please note that we are a real working farm with a team of only two, so there may be a delay in responding to your inquiries. Thanks for your patience.
MINIMUM ORDER. The minimum order is five (5) day-old chicks for all breeds. We only sell chicks locally and only when we are hatching to replace our flocks. We can set a custom hatch for you with a 50% non-refundable deposit. The minimum order for hatching eggs is six eggs of any breed. You are welcome to combine orders of any breeds in increments of 6 eggs.
STRAIGHT RUN. We do not vent sex. Your order includes day-old chicks of random sexes; we cannot guarantee specific numbers of males or females. Refunds or replacements are not available if you receive more males or females than expected.
GENERAL SHIPPING INFORMATION. Hatching egg orders are usually shipped on Tuesday or Wednesday of each week and generally will arrive within 3-4 days after they are shipped (on average). If you need a specific date for shipment, we will try to comply with your schedule (except preorders), please let us know during the checkout process. We charge a flat rate of $25 for sending a medium flat rate box via USPS Priority Mail. This will accommodate up to 12 eggs. A large flat rate box can accommodate 24 eggs and is $35 sent via USPS Priority Mail. Additional shipping charges apply to larger orders. We will email you the tracking number when the eggs ship. We can also mail via USPS Priority Mail Express, it is the fastest domestic service available from the USPS. If a shipping upgrade to Express is requested, the cost for the upgrade will be an extra $20 to $40 depending on the buyer’s location. Express does guarantee a 3-day arrival. TIMING OF SHIPMENT. Predicting laying, fertility, and hatch rates for rare birds is challenging, especially with small numbers. Delivery dates are estimates and may vary, and waiting several months is common. Seeking Eden Permaculture is not a commercial hatchery, and production may depend on just a few hens whose laying cycle may be unpredictable. We appreciate your patience.
CHICK CANCELLATIONS & REFUNDS. Cancel day-old chick orders at least 7 days before the hatch date for a full refund; later cancellations forfeit 50%. This applies only to refunds. See below for account credit details.
CANCELLATIONS & ACCOUNT CREDITS.
Should you need to cancel your order at any time, you may elect to receive 100% of your original order total as an account credit. This credit can be applied towards any future purchases on our website (seekingedenpermaculture.com) and does not expire. For further details regarding refunds, please consult the above refund policy.
HATCHING EGG ORDER CANCELLATION
We recognize that unexpected circumstances may arise, necessitating the cancellation of orders.
Cancellations & Refunds. For hatching egg orders, cancellations must be requested at least 7 days prior to the estimated ship date in order to receive a full refund. Cancellations submitted after this period are subject to a $20 cancellation fee.
MODIFICATIONS & RESCHEDULING. If you need to make changes to your order the day of your scheduled ship date, please reach out to us via phone, email, or social media (Instagram/Facebook Messenger) as early in the day as possible for assistance. Requests made after 1 PM PST on shipping day may not be seen in time. If you need to reschedule your ship date please contact us as soon as possible so we can help make this order change. If you notify us of this request within 3 days prior of your estimated ship date we reserve the right to charge a $20 rescheduling fee.
HATCHING EGGS.
When purchasing hatching eggs from us, you agree to the following: Because of the nature in which eggs are shipped, we cannot guarantee hatch rates or predict the success of your hatch due to multiple factors (shipping, handling of packaging, etc.). Please purchase only if you are willing to assume the risk of shipped eggs, as refunds will not be given. Please understand we do the most on our end to provide great genetics, healthy parentage, strong intact eggs, and good packaging at the time they are shipped. However, there are assumed risks when buying shipped hatching eggs, if you are not comfortable with that risk, it would be better to purchase live chicks (which are available in the Spring and sometimes in the Fall, local sales only)
Please understand we are unable to guarantee your hatch rate; too many factors outside of our control can contribute to poor hatch rates (poor handling, improper incubation methods, etc.). We ship only high-quality, fresh eggs in optimal sizes and shapes. With over 20 years of experience and many satisfied customers, we know how to pack/ship eggs for your success. CHICKS & STARTED BIRDS (ADULTS OR JUVENILES). Chicks and started birds are sold locally only; we do not ship. Sometimes birds from our grow-out or breeding pens may be available—please contact us for details. Due to our strict bio-security protocol, no returns are accepted, and all sales are final.
QUARANTINE. Quarantine and monitor all birds you receive from Seeking Eden Permaculture for at least 30 days before introducing them to your flock. This is essential for biosecurity and should be done with every new bird you bring to your property.
VISITORS. We value your visits, but biosecurity on our farm is critical to ensuring healthy birds. To protect our flocks, barn tours and access to bird areas are not permitted. U-pick activities are limited to designated zones, and viewing or entering bird housing areas is strictly prohibited.
PAYMENT. Full payment is due before the hatching eggs are shipped. We accept most major credit cards, Zelle, money orders and cash (local pickup only). Please do not send payment if you do not have an order submitted. We respect your privacy and never share or sell your personal payment information with any third parties.
GIFT CERTIFICATES. Gift certificates never expire and can be used on multiple orders until the balance is expended. Certificates cannot be refunded or cashed out, but you may transfer them to someone else if you don't use them. For any issues, please contact us.
WHAT YOU SHOULD EXPECT. Expect birds that meet basic breed traits, but not cosmetic perfection—most will have minor flaws. Only a small number fully match breed standards and win shows. We do not guarantee every bird is show quality or flawless. However, our birds can serve as a strong foundation for a breeding program aimed at producing show-quality birds over time. Each year, we hatch hundreds of birds but usually keep only 4-5 for breeding pens. The high cost of hatching eggs reflects the effort to raise and evaluate hundreds of chicks to ensure a genetically sound breed that meets standards.
